USING WebCT for PRIVATE THREADED DISCUSSIONS
Our main use of WebCT
in BIO 2500 will be to give your cooperative learning group access to a
"room" in which to conduct threaded discussions in private as a group, and also to provide a
public forum in which you can present significant summaries and developments for the benefit of the whole class. I have posted some specific instructions for you to read in your
WebCT. Here is how to get there to read them and to begin communicating
with your cooperative learning group:
First determine
the designator for your cooperative learning group. Groups are designated
by lab section # and an alphabetic designator - e.g. 1-A, 1-B, etc.
See the BIO 2500 Home Page under "Cooperative Learning Group" to identify name of your group and its members.
Second, from
the BIO 2500 Home Page, click on "My Blackboard Login" and complete the login process.
Third, select the "BIO 2500 General Botany" course and you will see links to the Cooperative Learning Groups. Click on the icon for your group and proceed to post any comments or questions you wish to share with your group members. Use a "Subject" line which fits the topic under discussion -- e.g. "Roundup" Other group members may then "Reply" and continue a threaded discussion. [These instructions need to be "class tested" so I will not be surprised if there is additional tweaking needed as my time permits. Therefore, do not spend undue time if the system does not permit you to communicate in a discussion format. Thanks for your patience.]

and names of members of each group can be viewed by returning to Cooperative Learning Groups.
